The central tool of the San Diego Vocation Infusion Learning Community
will be the development of a customized
“Vocation Infusion Plan”
Through the Vocation Infusion Plan, you will get to look at three dimensions that will be useful to help your congregation form the kinds of disciples that are a redemptive presence in your communities.
The Infusion Plan will provide a place to record and share your action steps. We recommend that you do this homework and discernment with other key congregational leaders.
Doing this work together with other churches, and with the reflection of our alumni creates an encouraging and creative environment with just enough accountability to keep you motivated.
Vocation Infusion Plan – Three Dimensions
Dimension 1
Evaluate core theological convictions that facilitate healthy vocational stewardship.
Dimension 2
Assess and strengthen your church’s culture.
Dimension 3
Assess and strengthen your church’s activities and practices.
Vocation Infusion Plan – Action Plans
Dimension 1
After revisiting core theological convictions, you will have to opportunity to form action plan items to help strengthen a few areas of teaching. Plan a sermon series. Study a topic. Find some curriculum.
Dimension 2
After looking at your mission, vision, and value statements, you may find ways in your action plan to adjust your language and church culture to reinforce vocational discipleship.
Dimension 3
After a year of learning, assessing, and identifying, you will want to reflect on how various pastoral practices will reinforce a culture of discipling people into their callings. How might you think about commissioning services? How could elements of your liturgy change?
